About GMU

The Greenville Downtown Airport is the busiest general aviation airport in South Carolina and the third largest in the United States. General Aviation is essentially anything that isn't military or commercial general.

We are the corporate gateway to Greenville. Our window to aviation community coordidoor creates a welcoming environment for families to play at our Runway Park, eat at the Runway Cafe, and learn about history at the Military History Center of the Carolinas Museum. We also conduct scheduled airport tours for the public. Safety and improving the airport for businesses and the community is our number one priority.

The Greenville Downtown Airport is also the perfect business location. Centrally located three miles from downtown. It is in the heart of Greenville business district. GMU is in between main city arteries: Laurens Road, N. Pleasantburg, Haywood Road, and 385. We are near an inland port which can bring merchandise from the sea via railways lines inland and then put them onto trucks.

GMU, is located in the scenic Upstate of South Carolina. GMU is convenient to all of Greenville's premier destinations. The Bon Secours Wellness Arena, the Peace Center, and the vibrant downtown area are only a five-minute drive away. Shopping malls, hotels, and restaurants are located just a few blocks from GMU. The Greenville Convention Center is located right next door, within walking distance of the airport.

Perfect East Coast location along 1-85, between Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC. The low cost of living, tax advantages, and location make us a fabulous business location. Our airport commision is pro-business and are not bound by typical bureaucratic regulations. We look forward to hearing from you!

The South Carolina Statewide Aviation System Plan & Economic Impact Report released in 2018 co
ncluded that in 2017 the Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) had a significant annual economic impact on the state of South Carolina and our local region.  We employ 547 people and have a direct annual economic contribution of $68.8 million.
